Some of the most important learning in design happens outside the studio, in direct conversation with someone further along the path.
Mentoring offers private teaching assistance to individual students — sustained, one-to-one support that follows a student's own project and pace, rather than a fixed curriculum. Sessions might work through a design problem in depth, prepare for a review, think through a research direction, or simply offer the kind of critical, attentive feedback that's easy to miss in a large studio setting. The mentoring draws on decades of studio teaching across institutions — TU Berlin, ETH Zürich, Hong Kong University, Yokohama National University — and on the same design-cosmological thinking that runs through POLYCOSMOS more broadly: attention to what a project is actually trying to become, not only whether it functions and looks resolved.

WHO THIS IS FOR
Architecture and design students at any stage — from early studio work through thesis — who want sustained, individual attention on their own project rather than periodic group critique.
APPROACH
1 — Project Development
Working through a specific design problem in depth — concept, spatial logic, technical resolution — at the pace and level of detail a studio setting rarely allows.
2 — Review Preparation
Structuring an argument, sharpening a presentation, and anticipating the questions a jury or client is likely to raise, before the pressure of the actual review.
3 — Research Direction
Support for students developing an independent research or thesis direction, including how to frame a design question so it can genuinely be investigated rather than only illustrated.
